Hello everyone! I hope you’re all having a wonderful week. Welcome back to another blog post! Today, I’m diving into one of my favourite interests: Music! Music is something I love dearly, and I find myself listening to different varieties throughout the day. Today, I want to share some song recommendations that resonate with mental health themes—tracks that I’ve found comforting during times of struggle, anxiety, and reflection. I’ll also include my interpretations of the lyrics based on my own experience of the song. Hope you find these helpful!


1. Hold the Line – Avicii

In my view, this song relates to resilience. The message to “hold the line” encourages us to push through tough times, reminding us that it’s okay to ask for help. It resonates with anyone facing mental health challenges, reinforcing the idea that brighter days are ahead.

2. 8 Billion People – Kiran + Nivi

This track explores feelings of loneliness in a crowded world. It’s a poignant reminder that even when we are surrounded by people, we can still feel isolated. The lyrics encourage us to seek out meaningful connections, reinforcing that we are not alone in our struggles.

3. The A Team – Ed Sheeran

This heartfelt song tells the story of someone battling addiction and the pain that comes with it. It sheds light on the struggles of mental health, urging us to show compassion for those facing similar challenges. It’s a powerful call for empathy and support.

4. Amazing Day – Coldplay

In “Amazing Day,” Coldplay captures the beauty in life’s little moments, even amidst struggles. The song is a gentle reminder to appreciate the joys we encounter, which is crucial for maintaining and enhancing our mental well-being.

5. 42 – Coldplay

This introspective track dives into existential questions and the uncertainty many of us feel. It resonates with those grappling with anxiety, reminding us that it’s normal to search for meaning in our lives. It also validates the ongoing struggle of moving on from grief and loss.

6. Carry On – fun.

This song speaks about perseverance. “Carry On” encourages us to keep moving forward, even when life gets tough. It’s an uplifting reminder that it’s okay to feel overwhelmed, but vital to keep pushing through.

7. Some Nights – fun.

In this song, the themes of identity and purpose take center stage. The lyrics reflect confusion with one’s feelings and sense of self, as well as the quest for meaning, resonating with anyone facing mental health challenges. It’s a reminder that questioning ourselves is part of the journey, and social support is important for our mental well-being.

8. 7 Years – Lukas Graham

This reflective song talks about growing up and the various stages of life, along with its struggles. It emphasizes the importance of relationships and serves as a reminder to appreciate the journey, especially when we are dealing with difficult, unpredictable circumstances.

9. Waste – Foster the People

“Waste” captures feelings of being stuck and longing for change. The song reflects the frustration of dealing with life’s challenges, highlighting the importance of addressing our mental health struggles and seeking support. It also speaks to unconditional love and supporting someone close, no matter what they’re going through or their mental state.

10. Alone – Alan Walker

This track speaks to the experience of isolation and the desire for connection. The lyrics resonate with anyone who has felt lonely, reminding us that reaching out and finding community is helpful and essential for our mental health.

11. Broken Jaw – Foster the People

In this song, we explore feelings of pain and vulnerability. The lyrics address the struggle of expressing oneself during emotional turmoil, highlighting the importance of discussing mental health and seeking understanding.

12. Chin Music for the Unsuspecting Hero – Foster the People

It highlights the feeling of isolation in one’s struggles and acknowledges how, at times, everything in life can seem to be working against us, and we have to persevere and push through.
