Halloween Self-Care Ideas

Hello everyone! I hope that you are all enjoying a wonderful October. Today’s blog post is a fun one, filled with Halloween-themed Self-Care ideas!

Trick or Treating:
Taking a walk while trick-or-treating can be a delightful way to escape from everyday worries. Invite friends along to enhance the fun with laughter and socializing.

Pumpkin Decorating:
Mindfulness doesn’t always mean sitting in silence. Pumpkin carving is a fantastic way to practice mindfulness, requiring focus and patience. Set aside your worries and immerse yourself in creating unique designs. For a bonus, roast the seeds for a healthy snack! You can also host a pumpkin-decorating contest with friends, voting for categories like “funniest,” “most terrifying,” or “most creative.”

Making Your Own Costume:
Engage your creativity by designing your own Halloween costume! You can create a “closet costume” by mixing and matching items from your wardrobe and adding creative makeup to complete the look. Thrift shopping is another enjoyable option, allowing you to find unique pieces while socializing with friends and distracting yourself from stress.

Dress Up and Engage in Activities:
Costumes aren’t just for trick-or-treating! Organize fun activities with friends, like Halloween-themed ice skating, dancing, or a board game night. If you’re looking to meet new people, I recommend checking out the MeetUp app (https://www.meetup.com/topics/halloween/) for local Halloween events that match your interests.

Donate to Charity:
This Halloween, consider giving back to your community. When I was younger, my school organized trick-or-treating events to collect food for the Food Bank and candy for the Children’s Hospital. Contributing to a good cause always provides me with a sense of fulfillment and purpose, so I tend to consider it a form of self-care.

Halloween Themed Crafts:
Pumpkin carving isn’t the only craft to enjoy this season. Explore various Halloween crafts that can be done solo for a quick break or with friends for a fun activity. Consider making tissue ghost decorations, painting friends’ faces (which is guaranteed to generate a few laughs), baking Halloween-themed cookies, or creating Halloween bath bombs (https://www.steampoweredfamily.com/halloween-bath-bombs).

Designing Halloween Spotify Playlists:
One of my favourite ways to unwind is by creating Spotify playlists. Curate a collection of your Halloween favourites to play at your next party or while studying—especially helpful during the midterm season! The Collaborative Playlist feature on Spotify (https://support.spotify.com/ca-en/article/collaborative-playlists/) is another fun way to discover your friends’ musical tastes, and broaden your musical horizons, this Halloween.

Throw a Murder Mystery Party:
Host a murder mystery party for a unique and engaging experience with friends. It’s a great way to socialize, meet new people, and get creative. Check out this beginner’s guide for tips on organizing a memorable gathering.

Decorate Your House/Room:
If you’re too busy to go out, consider decorating your space for Halloween. Organizing or changing up your room can be a relaxing way to feel productive. I always find that a clean and festive environment motivates me to tackle my daily tasks with enthusiasm.

Thank you so much for reading! I’m wishing you all a successful midterm season and a fantastic Halloween!
